Roundhay Park will be at the heart of the action to help us create a Covid-Secure event arena, and there will be a few extra safety steps in your event experience compared to other years.

In the week ahead of the event, we’ll email you a health declaration and code of conduct to complete before you come to Roundhay Park. By doing this the QR code you received when you signed up will be activated to allow you access into the park.

Once you’re in, one of our volunteers will take your temperature and direct you onto registration if your temperature is where it should be. From there it’s a straightforward case of racking your bike and making your way down to the start 10 minutes before your start time – which we’ll let you know on 21 May.

When you’re in the park there will be a few other changes like social distancing and increased hygiene measures, and we strongly advise that you wear a face covering when you’re not racing. Your start will also be a time-trial start with a short gap in-between you and the person before and after you, helping to allow for social distancing when out on the course.

Participant Plus Ones and Spectators

With elite racing on both days, there is the opportunity for all participants to stay in the park after their race to watch, providing that the UK Government’s roadmap is continued being followed into step three where a limited number of spectators are allowed.

We’re also allowing participants to bring along a plus one who will be able to be in Roundhay Park with them. Plus ones will be charged £5 due to the Covid-Secure measures in place to allow them to attend and must be 18 years or over.

You can find out more about how to register for a plus one and about general spectating in our blog post.

AJ Bell 2021 World Triathlon Leeds Swim Options

Despite there being growing access to outdoor and indoor swimming venues, we are aware that not all participants will be able to train to be confident enough to be swim ready by event day so have a few options for you if you’re uncertain about it.

We’ve put together a useful blog for participants and anyone looking to join us this summer on the alternative swim options available, including reducing or removing the swim distance at your race.
